The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time position in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to join our existing group of 3 advanced endoscopists. The position will be primarily dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and clinical/translational research in the area of advanced endoscopy.
The Division currently includes 16 fulltime faculty, and 2 nurse practitioners. Referrals come from within an extensive primary care network, active colorectal and hepatobiliary services, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and from the surrounding region. In addition to inpatient consultative services, the Division staffs clinics and outpatient endscopy units at 4 locations throughout the greater Sacramento region including a new and expansive clinic with 4 outpatient endoscopy suites. Research opportunities include a CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Sciences Center which provides bioinformatics and biostatistical support including access to over 12 million patient records in UC-Rex; a GI Clinical Trials Unit to support investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials; and multiple opportunities for translational research. The Division’s training program includes 9 Gastroenterology fellows and 1 EUS fellow.
Candidate must possess an M.D. degree and be BC/BE in Gastroenterology and eligible for a California medical license. Candidate is expected to have training and experience in advanced endoscopy include endoscopic mucosal resection, EUS, and ERCP. Excellence in teaching is required. Additional responsibilities will include providing general gastroenterology care and teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
Completion of an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship is highly desirable
