The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time position in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The position will be primarily dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and clinical/translational research in the area of inflammatory bowel disease. Additional responsibilities will include providing general gastroenterology care and teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The Division cares for a large and diverse patient population with IBD which the candidate will be expected to further develop. In addition to inpatient consultative services, the Division staffs clinics and outpatient endoscopy units at 4 locations throughout the region including a new and expansive clinic with 4 outpatient endoscopy suites. Research opportunities include a CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Sciences Center which provides bioinformatics and biostatistical support including access to over 12 million patient records in UC-Rex; a GI Clinical Trials Unit to support investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials; and multiple opportunities for translational research in microbiome, genetics, nutrition, and immunity. The Division’s training program includes 9 Gastroenterology fellows and 1 EUS fellow.
Candidate is expected to have an MD and training and experience in general gastroenterology as well as in the treatment of IBD and performance of clinical research. Excellence in teaching is required. Candidate must be BC/BE in Gastroenterology and eligible for a California medical license. Completion of an IBD Fellowship is highly preferred. Competency in endoscopic ultrasound is preferred. Appointees to the Clinical X series are required to engage in creative activity that can include clinical/translational research, teaching, patient care and university service. Rank will be commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
